Chicago Turkish Festival

Folk dancing, art, music and more bring a taste of Turkish culture to the city at the Chicago Turkish Festival. The cultural experience begins as you enter the festival through doors that resemble those of a traditional house in Safranbolu (a town in Anatolia that hasn't changed much in its 200-year existence). The next stop on this tour of Turkey can be the art exhibit ┬┐Land of Civilizations,┬┐ where you can learn about Anatolia, Istanbul and the Turkish Republic. Then you can dive into the entertainment of Turkey with performances by the whirling dervishes, folk dancers, a fashion show and more. It's a four-day trip (without leaving the city), so pace yourself and enjoy Turkish cuisine along the way, including Maras ice cream, kababs and baklava. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday at Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington St.; free; chicagoturkishfestival.com
