Chicago Turkish Festival
Folk dancing, art, music and more bring a taste of Turkish culture to the city at the Chicago Turkish Festival. The cultural experience begins as you enter the festival through doors that resemble those of a traditional house in Safranbolu (a town in Anatolia that hasn't changed much in its 200-year existence). The next stop on this tour of Turkey can be the art exhibit ¿Land of Civilizations,¿ where you can learn about Anatolia, Istanbul and the Turkish Republic. Then you can dive into the entertainment of Turkey with performances by the whirling dervishes, folk dancers, a fashion show and more. It's a four-day trip (without leaving the city), so pace yourself and enjoy Turkish cuisine along the way, including Maras ice cream, kababs and baklava.
