Seven people were shot in separate incidents overnight, Chicago police officials said.
The first shooting happened at 9:40 p.m. Friday night on the 2100 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side when a 20-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his his wrist, police said.
The man was on Kilpatrick when a man went up to him and began firing shots in his direction, police said. The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, police said.
After the shooting, police were able to arrest a man who was identified by the victim as the shooter, police said. Charges are pending.
At 11:10 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the leg on the 700 block of West 48th Street in the Canaryville neighborhood on the South Side, police said. The victim was standing on the street when a man began shooting in the man's direction, striking the victim, police said.
The man was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where his condition had stabilized, police said. No one was in custody.
At 12:38 a.m. this morning, a 22-year-old man was in serious condition at Provident Hospital of Cook County after being shot in the abdomen on the 5800 block of South Martin Luther King Drive in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side, according to a release from Chicago police. No other information was available.
A 28-year-old is in critical condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital after being shot in the back about 1:04 a.m. this morning while walking in the 2300 block of South Leavitt Street in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the Near Southwest Side, according to a police release. The shots were fired from a passing light-colored vehicle, police said.
Three people were hospitalized after a shooting incident about 3:23 a.m. outside a lounge in the 500 block of East 75th Street in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side, according to a police release. The ages and conditions of the three victims were not available, but police said one was taken to Stroger hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and a second was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the hand.
