Immigration created a thriving ethnic press -- and, in the electronic age, ethnic radio and television stations. A vendor on Milwaukee Avenue on the Northwest Side offers two newspapers for the neighborhood's large Polish population. In the 1990s, Poland remained one of the most important sources of new immigrants to Chicago.
