Convicted men circa 1880s

Eight men were convicted of plotting the 1886 bomb-throwing at the Haymarket, where Randolph Street widened out for two blocks on Chicago's Near West Side. Four were hanged in the gallows room of Cook County Jail on November 11, 1887. A fifth man, Louis Lingg, committed suicide the day before. The rest were pardoned in 1893.
