Former Carver basketball star Nick Irvin has been named interim boys basketball coach at Morgan Park.
Irvin takes over for Mandel Oliver, who lost his job last month amid a Chicago Public Schools investigation into an alleged paddling incident of a player.
Irvin, who averaged 27 points and eight assists during the 1996-97 season, went on to play for three years at Fresno State under Jerry Tarkanian. His father is club coach of the Mac Irvin Fire, where Nick also had coached. His older brother, Lance Irvin, is an assistant at Southern Illinois.
