My funny valentine
Even if you've seen the Neo-Futurists' TMLMTBGB. a dozen times, this weekend's different. The popular troupe performs "Too Much Love: 30 Plays About Love in 60 Sweet Minutes" at 7:30 p.m. at the NeoFuturarium (5153 N. Ashland Ave., 773-275-5255; $20), and all proceeds help support the Children's Organ Transplant Association.
An equally funny option: GroundUp theater presents "Letters/X Part 6: The Recession of Love," featuring a sextuplet of performers acting out actual breakup letters and texts, at 8 p.m. at the Hungry Brain (2319 W. Belmont Ave., 773-935-2118; free).
Vettel says if you're heading to or from the NeoFuturarium, you'll find good eats at La Donna (5146 N. Clark St., 773-561-9400), a neighborhood mainstay with straightforward, good Italian food. If you're out by Hungry Brain, head a bit farther west to Kuma's Corner (2900 W. Belmont Ave., 773-604-8769), where Heavy Metal vibe meets seriously good burgers, many of them named after and inspired by metal bands.
After dinner, cap off the evening at the iO Theater (3541 N. Clark Ave., 773-880-0199; $18), where musical comedy troupe the Cupid Players star in "Cupid Has a Heart On," a musical guide to relationships, now in its fourth year.
