Jazz -- Paulinho Garcia

He has come to epitomize music of Brazil in Chicago — and in concert halls around the world. If you didn’t know better, you’d swear that Paulinho Garcia still lives and works near the white sandy beaches of his homeland.
But the Brazilian-born singer-guitarist has been based here for 31 years, in that time championing the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim and other Brazilian masters to increasingly dramatic effect.
Never more so than this year, which began spectacularly for Garcia and got better from there.<br>
