Edward Charles Tavenner Jr., 76, of Eldersburg, died early Friday morning, June 13, 2014, at home.
Born Sept. 23, 1937, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Jennie Tavenner and Edward C. Tavenner Sr. He was the husband of the late Mary Nancy Lee Tavenner, his wife of eight years.
He was a 1957 graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. He worked at C&P Telephone Company and retired in 1989. He enjoyed spending time with his family and pets, and traveling. He was an enthusiastic collector of coins and stamps.
Surviving are daughter Deborah A. Hughes and son-in-law George L. Hughes Jr., of Eldersburg; brother Irvin C. Tavenner and sister-in-law Nancy J. Tavenner, of Baltimore; grandchildren Kevin M. Gardner and Robert L. Gardner Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Tina L. Gardner; great-grandchildren Kaleb M. Machen, Kristen L. Gardner, Brandi N. Penn, Tyler L. Gardner and Austin R. Gardner; many cousins; and friend and caregiver, Leanne E. Cowart.
He was predeceased by a son, Edward C. Tavenner; and a great-granddaughter, Emily M. Gardner.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Nupp officiating. Interment will follow at Wards Chapel Cemetery.
