With one month until school starts, the Carroll County Health Department is offering free vaccines.
Children entering kindergarten this fall are required to have two doses of Varicella, the chicken pox vaccine, according to a news release from the Health Department. Children entering seventh grade this fall are required to have the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccine, Meningitis vaccine (MCV4- serogroup A, C, W, or Y meningococcal disease) and HPV is also highly recommended, though is not required to attend school in Maryland.
Any child through age 18, regardless of insurance, who needs these vaccines may get them for free, according to the release.
Walk-in clinics will be held:
9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29
4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5
All of the clinics will be held at the Carroll County Health Department, 290 S. Center St., Westminster, and no appointment is needed.
