Under Armour plans to start selling its athletic shoes at Designer Shoe Warehouse, or DSW, stores in July.
The brand's training and running shoes and slides in women's, men's and youth sizes will be sold at all 480 DSW stores, the company said Monday.
Jason LaRose, president of Under Armour North America, said in an email that the expansion into "family channels" such as Kohl's and DSW are part of the Baltimore-brand's long-term strategic plan as it pursues growth in the footwear category.
"It is critical that we engage with our consumer across key distribution channels," LaRose said.
Under Armour, which, like other retailers, struggled through a sluggish holiday season, has been looking to reach shoppers beyond traditional sporting goods stores, especially after losing Sports Authority, which went out of business last year.
The footwear category, which hit the $1 billion sales mark last year, has been one of the fastest growing parts of the business but still represents less than a fifth of total sales.
