(RED) is seeking to drive attention toward the fight against AIDS with a Vine campaign. ((RED) / June 5, 2013)

The group (RED) is raising awareness about AIDS on the 32nd anniversary of the discovery of the disease by attempting to set a world record on Vine, Twitter's new video social app.

The nonprofit organization, which drives donations toward the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa, is encouraging Vine users to record and share videos that bring attention to the fight against the disease. (RED) is also encouraging users to include the hashtag #REDWorldRecord, so that collectively, the organization and users can set the record for most Vine videos posted in one day.

Setting the record shouldn't be too much of a problem considering Vine has been around only since late January, but the campaign should be effective with younger users, who have embraced Vine and grown the app to more than 13 million users since it launched.

Users can see (RED)'s own #REDWorldRecord Vine below.

Vine enables users to shoot and stitch together six-second clips that they can share in the app with their friends and on other social networks. The app was exclusive to Apple users until this week, when Twitter launched a version for Android.

To promote the campaign, (RED) has enlisted numerous celebrities, companies and other organizations to make #REDWorldRecord videos of their own. Among them are Beats by Dre, DJ Steve Aoki and Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, who says "an AIDS free generation 2015" in his Vine, which can be seen below.

So far, (RED) says hundreds of videos have been shared using the hashtag.
