It's the season for smartwatches.
Sony on Tuesday rolled out a smartwatch while a report says Google could release its own watch soon. Smartwatches function similarly to smartphones, but are worn on users' arms like wristwatches.
Earlier this month, Samsung rolled out its own smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, for $299.
After being unveiled earlier this year, the Sony SmartWatch 2 is now available for purchase in the U.S. for $199.99. The Sony device features a 1.6-inch touch screen, is capable of running apps and can connect to any Android device with version 4.0 and higher.
With the Sony SmartWatch 2, users can check their text messages, calendar, Gmail, Facebook and Twitter -- they can even "Like" things on Facebook and retweet on Twitter. Sony also says the SmartWatch 2 is water resistant and can last three to four days between battery charges.
It's available at Sony's online store and at some Sony retail stores.
Meanwhile, 9to5Google reports that a Google smartwatch could come "sooner rather than later."
According to the report, that smartwatch will be centered around the Google Now service, which is built into the company's Android platform and is designed to provide users with information they might need before they search for it. That includes weather and traffic information.
