Rick Ross needs some security, Chris Brown needs to chill out and Twitter's new app Vine needs a good porn filter. Welcome to your online trends report for Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013.
In a bad day for hip-hop, rapper Rick Ross was the apparent target of a drive-by shooting in Florida. Meanwhile, all-around-lovely person Chris Brown and up-and-coming R&B star Frank Ocean got heated in a recording studio parking lot. I really feel for Brown's publicist. Making Brown look good may be the hardest job in Hollywood after representing Lindsay Lohan.
A pair of tech stories are also trending. Twitter's new looping video app, Vine, got some unwanted attention yesterday when a NSFW porn video ended up as an "editor's pick" on the iPhone app. Twitter has since apologized. No word on that pervy "editor." Apple released an update for the iPhone, iOS 6.1, the first major software change since the 5 was released in September. It features more LTE support and a few slight upgrades, but no groundbreaking features.
Meanwhile, Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence is still attracting attention on the web after her wardrobe malfunction at the SAG Awards on Sunday and RuPaul debuted another season of her mega campy drag queen competition.
Finally, today is a media day for the Super Bowl so expect plenty of Ravens and 49ers' tidbits to dominate the Internet. This week, we'll be checking out what San Francisco is searching for in addition to Baltimore. SuperBowl searches in both cities have yet to heat up, but the week is still young.
