Manti Te'o's fake dead girlfriend, some mild "American Idol" cat fighting and Lance Armstrong's day of Oprah-induced reckoning are dominating the searches on Google and Twitter this morning.

Remember when you pretended to have a Canadian girlfriend in summer camp? Well, make that a million times more pathetic, and you get the bizarre tale of college football star Manti Te'o. Some suspect Te'o invented a girlfriend on Facebook and then killed her off for publicity. The Notre Dame player claims he's the victim of a cruel hoax. Either way, sports reporters wrote scores of heart-warming stories about his "loss" and made him a national celebrity. The reporters are taking heat for not fact checking, but hey if you believe the hoax story, Te'o didn't either. Te'o is expected to have a press conference later today. And by the way, my fake girlfriend went on to live a happy and fulfilling fake life in Vancouver. Claire, I would never dream of killing you off in a car crash.

Meanwhile, those expecting copious amounts of hair pulling were probably disappointed by American Idol's season premiere last night. Aside from some weird sniping about being allowed to bring accessories, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey kept the claws retracted. Actually the other new judge, county star Keith Urban stole the show with his Kiwi accent and nice guy ways

The trailer for "Spring Breakers" -- a new movie staring Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens -- is gaining traction online. Yes, it's as trashy and base (see: promotional image) as you think it is. Those expecting Oscar-caliber performances should look elsewhere.

Finally, look for news about Lance Armstong to heat up later today online as we get closer to the much hyped Oprah interview. Early this morning, it was announced that he was stripped of Olympic medal.
