's true, Google has announced it is changing it's name to Topeka, giving up the name it turned into a household name worldwide and which even became its own verb – as in "I Googled you today."

Why the name change? To honor the city of Topeka, Kansas, where the mayor recently announced it was officially changing its name to Google, to honor, well, Google. Now will the mayor have to change back to Topeka?

Of course, anyone who follows the ongoing of the most powerful search engine site in the world realizes Google's quirky ways realizes today is April Fool's Day, and Google loves itself some April Fool's Day fun. For instance, in the past on this day, Google has promised to deliver free high-speed Internet via the your home's plumbing. And there was the time they offered a way to pre-date email dates so you could send that late birthday email to your best friend and make it appear you did it on time. Wouldn't that be nice?

But, don't believe me on April Fool's Day. Get it straight from the Google's own mouth.
