Baltimore's Tremont now Embassy Suites Baltimore-Downtown

The 37-story downtown hotel that was for decades the Tremont Plaza Hotel is now the Embassy Suites Baltimore-Downtown, hotel management announced Monday.

"We're pleased to mark the official opening of our Baltimore-Downtown property," said John Rogers, global head of Embassy Suites Hotels, a division of Hilton Worldwide.

"As we're focused on growing the brand in urban markets, this is an excellent demonstration of how our flexible design approach can meet the needs of a downtown location," Rogers said in a statement.

The hotel, on St. Paul Street across from Mercy Medical Center, underwent a $14 million renovation during its conversion from the Tremont to an Embassy Suites. In addition to 300 upgraded guest rooms, the Embassy Suites features a new, larger restaurant, B'more Bistro and Lounge.

This is the hotel brand's third property in Maryland. It was developed by Garrison Investment Group, of New York, and Chartres Lodging Group LLC, based in San Francisco. It is managed by Kokua Hospitality LLC, a division of Chartres.
