Local housing market Top 10s for 2012 [Pictures]
Which ZIP codes and city neighborhoods in the Baltimore metro area had the most home sales? The biggest drops in price? Baltimore Sun reporter Steve Kilar analyzed data from Metropolitan Regional Information Systems' RealEstate Business Intelligence to find the extremes during 2012, among places with at least five home sales. (A word to the wise: Huge swings in average price are usually a sign of shifts in the sorts of homes selling. An area may have fewer foreclosures, for instance, or a development of larger houses may have cropped up. Individual homeowners' values aren't necessarily changing in lockstep.)
An earlier version of this gallery used data that incorrectly included the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Baltimore's Federal Hill neighborhood, not the Inner Harbor neighborhood, affecting some rankings. The Sun regrets the error.
