M.J. "Jay" Brodie, president of the Baltimore Development Corp., said the developers have requested a six-month extension of a 2005 land sale agreement, to Dec. 31, 2011. He said his agency had recommended the extension be granted because the team has made "significant progress" over the past half year in obtaining design approvals needed to land tenants.
The request for an extension will be considered on June 29 by Baltimore's Board of Estimates, the city's spending board. The Board of Estimates approved a previous six-month extension of the land sale agreement in December 2010.
The mixed-use project is being designed to contain apartments, stores, offices, a hotel, parking and a commemoration of the 1955 civil rights sit-in at the former Read's drugstore on the property.
