Average home sale prices dropped only slightly -- less than half a percent -- in the Baltimore metro area during the first half of the year, compared with January through June in 2009. But results varied dramatically from one community to another. At least some of the increases at a local level were driven by buyers purchasing bigger homes this year, rather than by rising values.
