Out of the friendship of three Virginia Tech grads grew M-Edge Accessories, a manufacturer of consumer electronics accessories for devices such as the iPhone, iPad, Kindle, Nook and laptops. Based in Odenton, the $34 million company offers its 75 employees perks like a yearly $150 stipend to buy a gadget with a free M-Edge case, as well as regular events such as movie days, happy hours and intramural kickball games. "It is fun, fun, fun to work here!" said one employee. Giving back is a priority; the company provides book lights and cases for the e-readers disseminated by Worldreader.org and E-books for Troops. "I feel appreciated every day and a part of something important," said one staffer. "The company gives back to the community as well as anyone who needs help. It surpasses working for [just] a paycheck by leaps and bounds!"
