Founded by two cousins in 1992, Power Home Remodeling Group is billed as the nation's sixth-largest home remodeling company, with more than $172 million in sales and 87,000 customers. The company employs 1,350 people, including 180 in Maryland, split between a sales office in Greenbelt and a warehouse in Elkridge. Employees say Power retains a warm, family feel even as it expands; close to 100 percent of the executive leadership team started out in entry-level positions. "The people I work with influence me positively and encourage me to be a better employee as well as a better person," says one. Specializing in replacement windows, siding, roofing and entry doors, the company -- headquartered in Chester, Pa. -- has won accolades for its environmentally friendly, energy-saving exterior remodeling work. "The work that we do truly makes dynamic, positive changes in the lives of our homeowners," says another employee. Power takes the maxim "work hard, play hard" to heart: In 2012, upper management took the entire company on an all-expenses-paid trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, as thanks for their hard work.
