Amazon plans to boost employment in Maryland and 32 other states for the holiday season, hiring more than 3,000 seasonal workers in the state and 120,000 companywide.
The online giant is hiring at fulfillment centers, sorting facilities and customer service sites.
In Maryland, where Amazon employs more than 5,000, workers are needed to pick, pack and ship customer orders at a 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center on Broening Highway, which employs more than 3,500 people. Positions are also available at a warehouse in North East in Cecil County, at a sorting center in Rockville and at a pickup center near the University of Maryland campus in College Park.
The company said thousands of seasonal workers found full time roles with the retailer after last year’s holiday season. Amazon employs more than 125,000 regular, full-time workers at its more than 75 U.S. fulfillment centers.
