Dermalogica is the businesses’ product of choice for facial services and retail. It also sells products from Cedar Ridge, a local maker of salt scrubs and lotions; Wicks of Inwood, a local candle maker; and a few other spa-type products.

How did you get into your business, and what motivated you to start it? Anna has been a professional makeup artist for about 28 years and has been a licensed esthetician in Maryland and West Virginia for about 18 years. She has been doing makeup on photo shoots and at fashion shows for local photographers and designers in the D.C./Baltimore area, as well as work for WJLA Channel 7. She also worked for John Paul Mitchell Systems. She obtained her esthetic license from Von Lee International School of Esthetics in Baltimore. She also worked for a spa in Frederick, Md., at Headlines (now Thomas Scott) for seven years and at Shear Power in Charles Town, now in Ranson, W.Va.
