The Big Screen Store in Towson is now sharing top billing with its sister store.
The retailer of home audio and video equipment is relocating to the building occupied by The Sofa Store, which are both owned by the Luskin family.
The two will share a 50,000-square-foot space that The Sofa Store moved into last year. The location, off Cromwell Bridge Road, is just across the parking lot from the original Luskin Hill building where the home theater retailer opened in 1996.
The store's owners said the move was an effort to streamline costs and operations. The Big Screen Store had occupied about 4,000 square feet and will be able to easily move into the second floor of The Sofa Store, the company said.
The company also said that Sofa Store clients often want information about sound systems and televisions, while Big Screen Store buyers want more options for seating and home accessories and this move will make those consultations easier.
"This really made a lot of sense for our customers — we have seen sales volume for both stores increase as a result of the move," said Jason Brager, general manager of The Big Screen Store and The Sofa Store.
Owners said the two Towson stores employ about 20 workers and that The Big Screen Store's former space could be leased to another business.
All other Big Screen Stores, which has 14 locations throughout Maryland and Virginia, will remain independent storefronts.
