The Columbia Bank will close five of its branches in April, citing changing customer habits.
John A. Scaldara Jr., chairman and CEO of the The Columbia Bank, said the company also was looking to make its branch network more efficient. For example, one closing branch in Lutherville is less than two miles away from another Columbia Bank location.
Scaldara said most of the employees of closed branches will be moved to other locations. He anticipated less than five jobs would be lost. Thirty full service branches and three limited service branches will remain open, Scaldara said.
The bank is a subsidiary of Fulton Financial Corp., headquartered in Lancaster, Pa.
