Taking a break on some display couches inside the White Marsh J.C. Penney, Lisa Jones flipped through the store's Black Friday ad.
She made out with three Cooks brand nonstick griddles, which she got for $8 apiece. She said she goes out every year for the sales to purchase items for the Baltimore County Social Services Adopt a Family program.
"A griddle for $8 bucks is phenomenal," she said.
But, Jones, who wore her Ravens sweatshirt, was disappointed that the purple 4-piece luggage set she wanted for herself sold out so quickly.
"It's a nice set of luggage in Ravens colors," she said. But "they have a big hole there now," she said of the now empty display.
She had started shopping at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving at Walmart, where she braved crowds for a bike for the charity. She was out shopping with her boyfriend Lambros Venetos and mother.
They planned to go to Lowes to pick up some discounted poinsettias. She said many of the sales ended around 2 p.m.
"We will probably be in line until then," she said.
