Tre Johnson of Baltimore saved $400 to buy presents for three people on his list: his sister, a cousin and a best friend.
After two hours of shopping on Monument Street and in the Inner Harbor, Johnson was one gift away from being done. That last present, "I'll buy online."
Normally a last-minute shopper, Johnson said he decided to get out early "so that there's still a lot of the good stuff on the shelves."
He didn't ask folks what they wanted and no one asked him what was on his own wish list.
"If I get anything, I'll be surprised. I hope I get something I like. But no matter what, I'll be grateful."
