Less than a day after Walmart announced its earliest ever Black Friday doorbuster – 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving – Toys R Us said it will open at 5 p.m. on Turkey Day.
The toy chain said its doorbuster sale will feature more than 300 deals (while supplies last), including four-hour sales and other discounts on toys, games and tablets that will run Thursday through Saturday during Thanksgiving week.
This year, the toy retailer is giving its "Rewards R Us" members an even earlier jump on discounts starting Weds., Nov. 27.
And for the first time, shoppers can find the same Thanksgiving weekend deals online, starting at 12:01 on Thursday at toysrus.com/BlackFriday.
"At Toys R Us, we understand the incredible excitement that surrounds the official kickoff to the holiday shopping season, and the anticipation of value shoppers – marker in hand – as they scour our Black Friday circular, noting the deals they plan to seek out at Toys R Us,” said Peter Reiner, the retailer’s senior vice president of marketing.
Highlights of the four-hour doorbuster sale, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving, include a free $50 Toys R Us Gift Card with purchase of a 5th Gen Apple 16GB iPod Touch(Limit 1 per customer, per offer), buy-one-get-one-70-percent-off all Skylanders SWAP Force Single Character Packs (excludes starter packs) and 50 percent off Despicable Me 2 Dancing Minion Dave, limit two per customer.
Besides Walmart and Toys “R” Us, other retailers opening on Thanksgiving day include Sears Holdings Corp., JC Penney, Macy’s and Kohl’s, all opening at 8 p.m., Best Buy, opening at 6 p.m., and Kmart, opening at 6 a.m. and staying open all night before closing at 11 p.m. on Black Friday.
