Shoppers spend more than planned at warehouse clubs, report says

You're heading out the door for that monthly (or weekly) trip to Costco or BJ's Wholesale Club and a chance for some big savings. 

Not so fast.

A report from dealnews.com says warehouse clubs have a knack for getting customers to spend more than they intended to spend.

So besides bringing along your membership card, arm yourself with some of the money-saving tips from the dealnews report -- "7 Ways Warehouse Clubs Make You Spend More Money."

Here's one: Because low prices make shoppers feel like they're getting a good deal, they tend to buy more than they need.

"It’s unbelievable how low some of those prices are," psychotherapist Judy Belmont told dealnews. "So people do end up spending a lot more."

Then there's the hassle of navigating a cavernous, crowded store with a large shopping cart, which is enough to get some shoppers to load up on more than they need to avoid having to return too quickly.
