Microsoft will open its first permanent specialty stores in Maryland this summer at The Mall in Columbia and Towson Town Center.
Other new stores coming to the Towson mall include lululemon athletica, Tommy Bahama and Sperry, the center announced Thursday.
Microsoft's Columbia store, planned for the lower level center court, will open at 10 a.m. June 12, when shoppers can get a one-day deal on Surface 64GB tablets for $199 -- one per customer-- while supplies last. No date has been announced for the Microsoft store in Towson, which will open on level two in the mall's center court.
The technology giant, which had opened a temporary "pop up" holiday store in the Columbia mall in 2012, has been expanding its retail presence since opening its first store in Scottsdale in 2009. It now runs 93 stores in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
The stores will feature Windows PCs, tablets, Windows phones, Xbox One and Microsoft Office 365.
Microsoft is one of four new retailers on its way to the Towson mall.
Athletic apparel seller lululemon, which specializes in yoga and running attire, will open May 30 on level four in the Macy's wing.
Tommy Bahama, known for its island lifestyle focus on clothing and accessories, will open its third store in Maryland June 14, also on level four in the Macy's wing.
Sperry, specializing in boat shoes, sandals, deck shoes, loafers and nautical gear, will open its second Maryland location and become another addition to the level four Macy's wing. No opening date was announced.
