Ecommerce sales on the Monday after Thankgiving reached $1.47 billion, a 17 percent jump compared with Cyber Monday 2011, ComScore, which tracks digital business, said today.
But some perspective here. Consumers are by no means waiting until Cyber Monday to cyber shop.
ComScore reported ecommerce spending so far this holiday season of $16.4 billion. And that's 16 percent more than last year.
"It is...clear that the holiday promotional period has begun even earlier this year, with strong online sales occurring on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday," said Gian Fulgoni, ComScore chairman. "Now, we shall see the extent to which continuing and attractive retailer promotions are able to boost sales for the remainder of the week.”
