Free cookies for tax day at Great American Cookies

Great American Cookies hopes to sweeten tax day with a chocolate chip giveaway.

Shops in Columbia and the Inner Harbor will be joining the company's "Incomes the Sweetness" promotion to mark the end of tax season.

"This time of year can be taxing," David Kaiser, vice president, said in a statement. "We want to provide some sweet relief to our customers."

Pretty sweet. Customers who stop in at the Harborplace or Columbia Mall locations on April 15 will be given a free Original Chocolate Chip cookie, even those who don't buy anything or haven't completed their tax returns.

It's the second straight year the shops have offered free treats on tax day. Last year's featured Birthday Cake cookies.

As with filing taxes, it's best to start out early. Cookies will be given away only as long as supplies last.
