Best Buy plans to overhaul its home theater section, carving out shops-within-a-shop for Sony and Samsung, the chain announced.
In a move to boost TV sales, the retailer will begin rolling out its latest redesign in mid-May. The Sony Experience at Best Buy will be unveiled in 350 Best Buys, while the Samsung Entertainment Experience will debut in 500 stores, showcasing technology such as Ultra HD, boasting four times the resolution of HDTV.
A Best Buy spokeswoman expects to have details in a few weeks on Baltimore-area store redesigns.
The new TV format is meant to complement Best Buy's existing shop-in-shop concepts for Apple, Microsoft and Samsung mobile and computing products.
Reconfigured TV departments will feature sound bar listening stations, large-screen TV sections, Grab n' Go areas for small and mid-sized TVs and a spot for accessories.
