BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport has expanded its express parking lot by 60 spaces, after relocating its "cell phone lot" April 1, officials said Wednesday.
The Express Lot, located across from the airport's daily garage at Terminal Road and Scott Drive, offers customers luggage assistance and "trunk-to-terminal" shuttle service, in which shuttle bus drivers pick up travelers at their car. The airport increased the spaces to 1,385 resulting from high customer demand, said Jonathan Dean, an airport spokesman.
The airport moved the cell phone lot, where friends and family members can wait to receive calls from just-landed travelers, from one side of Terminal Road to the other. The move doubled the number of spots available in the cell phone lot from 50 to 100, making more express lot spaces available, Dean said.
"The cell phone lot previously had been carved out of the express lot. With that relocation, it freed up about 60 spaces for the express lot," he said.
The airport also replaced the express lot's shuttle buses in January, Dean said. It costs $10 maximum per day to park in the express lot.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
