Winner Distributing Co., the Anheuser-Busch distributor for Baltimore and parts of Baltimore County, will lay off 125 workers at the end of the month, the company said in a notice to Maryland's labor department.
The layoffs are the result of a plant closure at the business on Canton Center Drive in eastern Baltimore County, according to the Jan. 29 notice to the state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
Marc M. Winner, Winner's president, did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday. A company representative said attorneys had instructed it not to comment.
The company is listed as the exclusive Anheuser-Busch distributor in Baltimore and southern, eastern and western parts of Baltimore County. Anheuser-Busch beers include Budweiser, Michelob, Natural and Rolling Rock.
"It's our understanding that that particular warehouse was sold to another firm," said Fronda Cohen, a Baltimore County economic development spokeswoman. "We do not yet know who it was sold to."
The county is offering job search assistance to the workers in warehouse and delivery jobs, Cohen said.
