STX, the Baltimore-based sports gear manufacturer, announced Tuesday that it has partnered with Major League Lacrosse to provide equipment to its players for the 2014 season.
As part of the one-year official equipment partnership, STX will equip the league's teams' sticks, gloves and pads.
This deal follows on the heels of one announced Friday to supply the Team USA, the U.S. men's national lacrosse team, with gloves and padding for the next three years. The deal came in time to supply the team, which includes Kyle Harrison, the STX brand spokesman and former Johns Hopkins University star, in advance of the FIL World Championships starting July 10 in Denver.
Terms of neither deal were disclosed.
STX, which got its start after developing the first synthetic lacrosse stick head, now also produces equipment for field hockey, ice hockey and golf.
"We are very excited at the opportunity to partner with Major League Lacrosse and by doing so provide the top players in the sport with the chance to compete at the highest level, in our equipment," said Ed Saunders, STX director of marketing.
STX is first official equipment partner for the Boston-based league, which includes the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The team's home field is Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.
The league's opening weekend is April 26 and 27.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
