Cable network RLTV, based in Baltimore and geared toward over-50 adults, has entered into a content-sharing agreement with Next Avenue, a public television website out of Minnesota that also focuses on creating content for people in their sixth decade and beyond.
The agreement allows RLTV to use Next Avenue's articles and blog entries on its own website. The partnership, which was announced Wednesday and already has taken effect, also makes room for Next Avenue to develop exclusive content for RLTV down the road.
"Next Avenue, with principal offices in St. Paul, publishes original articles and blogs daily on everything from work and relationships after 50 to culinary explorations and caregiving for aging parents — all written and edited by veteran journalists," RLTV said in a statement.
"This partnership creates a synergistic, multi-platform opportunity in which RLTV can broaden its focus and provide a deeper, richer and more relevant experience for our viewers, advertisers and distributors," said Paul FitzPatrick, RLTV's president and CEO, in the statement.
The RLTV cable network launched in 2008 and is now available in more than 25 million U.S. homes, according to the company. Next Avenue was formed last year by a consortium of public television groups, including Twin Cities Public Television.
