Cordish marks Live's fifth anniversary with $50,000 cash giveaway

David Cordish, the owner of Live Casino & Hotel, handed out $50,000 in cash to guests to mark the casino's fifth anniversary.

Cordish distributed the money, $500 at a time, on the floor Tuesday night. The casino opened on June 6, 2012, adjacent to Arundel Mills mall.

Cordish was joined by Buddy Valastro, the chef featured on the reality TV show "Cake Boss." To mark the occasion, Valastro created a cake depicting the Live gambling floor.

The casino also is giving away five Tesla automobiles this month.

Formerly called Maryland Live, the casino recently changed its name to reflect the Live brand and emphasize the addition of a new hotel. The 17-story hotel is expected to open early in 2018.
