Kaydon Ring & Seal, an aerospace parts maker, will begin to shutter its Southwest Baltimore factory and lay off 217 employees in July, according to paperwork filed with the state.
Layoffs will begin July 13 and occur in four phases through April 2019, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filed with the state's Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
Kaydon announced in June 2016 plans to close the plant and move the jobs to Pennsylvania.
The move is part of a companywide consolidation by Kaydon parent SKF USA Inc., which is based in Lansdale, Pa.
Baltimore production is being shifted to a Hanover plant, as work previously done in Hanover moves to another plant in Georgia, the company said last year.
All Baltimore employees were being offered jobs at the Hanover plant, about 90 minutes away from Kaydon's Baltimore factory at 1600 Wicomico St.
