Giant Food, the region's largest grocer, has appointed a Walmart executive as its president.
Giant parent Ahold USA said Anthony T. Hucker will take start as president of the chain on October 3.
Hucker replaces Don Sussman, who has served as interim president since late last year. Sussman will resume his role as executive vice president supply chain for Ahold USA.
Hucker worked most recently as corporate vice president and head of Walmart's express division. He has served in several leadership positions since joining Walmart in 2004.
Giant, headquartered in Landover, operates 173 supermarkets in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and the District of Columbia. The chain employs about 22,000 people.
