Feld Entertainment chooses Jessup distribution hub

A Florida company that produces traveling circus, motorbike and Disney on Ice shows, will create a national distribution center in Jessup to house stuffed animals, memorabilia and other merchandise sold at the performances.

Feld Entertainment, Inc. signed a 10-year lease to occupy most of a 250,000-square-foot warehouse at 8235 Patuxent Range Road, consolidating its two existing Howard County operations. The company, which will move into the building in November, selected the site for its access to I-95 and proximity to the Port of Baltimore, where it receives shipments of 400 containers from China each year, said Thomas Higgerson, its vice president of transportation and logistics.

The warehouse will provide about 60 full-time jobs and 15 more positions during the peak season, Higgerson said. Feld currently employs 50 people in the county, he said.

Chesapeake Real Estate Group LLC and Atapco Properties spent $30 million redeveloping the site, a brownfield that previously housed a manufacturing plant, according to a Howard County news release.
