Sparks-based Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson Inc., a top Maryland civil engineering firm behind many of the state's roads, said Monday it has acquired a South Florida construction engineering and inspection services company.
Terms of the deal with Fort Lauderdale-based GBF Engineering Inc. were not disclosed. The acquisition adds 40 people to JMT's roughly 950 employees.
JMT President John Moeller said in a news release the expansion strengthens the company's presence in Florida. Founded in 1971, JMT has 19 offices on the East Coast, including two in Florida already.
"GBF is an outstanding Florida firm with a reputation for excellence in construction inspection. We are excited to combine our staff and offer a wider range of services to benefit our clients throughout the state," Moeller said.
GBF will continue to do business under its own name as a division of JMT, officials said. No layoffs are expected.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
