Fort Meade, a U.S. Army base that houses the National Security Agency and other components of the armed forces, said Friday that two major headquarters buildings were recently completed that will house an influx of military personnel who are moving to the installation because of the Base Realignment and Closure Act.

The Defense Media Activity building is 176,000 square feet and will contain media specialists for the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and other defense-related information services. The second building, for Defense and Military Adjudication Activities, is a 152,000-square-foot facility that combines 10 government agencies that focus on security clearances for defense and federal employees.

Hundreds of defense workers have started moving into the buildings, part of a move of about 5,700 military and civilian employees who will transfer to Fort Meade this year as a result of BRAC.
