Two Baltimore nonprofit groups receive BofA grants

Bank of America, the region's largest bank, announced Thursday that it will award $200,000 each to two Baltimore nonprofit groups involved in employment assistance and education.

Maryland New Directions provides career counseling, employee assistance and post-employment support to low-income job seekers.

Village Learning Place promotes literacy and education through a free neighborhood library and computer lab in Charles Village.

The grants are part of Bank of America's 2011 Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, which is awarding $20 million throughout the country.
