In March 2010 Black & Decker merged with Stanley and Black & Decker's biggest individual shareholder, Nolan Archibald who had been CEO for 24 years owns roughly one percent of their stock. He could have a pay package worth $89 million after three years this includes a "cost synergy bonus" of $45 million. How will they accomplish cost savings-terminations of course, in January 2009 Archibald terminated 1,500 employees. He also got the following perks in 2010: $526,391 of personal plane travel; $39,671 in reimbursed financial-planning costs; $9,522 for personal use of a company car; $16,200 as an additional car allowance; $4,528 in “personal use of tickets to athletic and other entertainment events”; $1,820 in club dues and $2,635 in free tools or other company merchandise (Aenlle, 2011).
