( February 8, 2012 ) There's the midsize Prius sedan, roomier Prius v wagon, and now the smaller subcompact Prius c (for city) hatchback that goes on sale in March. The Prius c is 19 inches shorter and 542 pounds lighter than the Prius sedan and designed for easy maneuvering in traffic and while parking. It's rated at 53 mpg city and 46 mpg highway. Another Prius, a plug-in hybrid, arrives this spring. It will be capable of about 15 miles in battery-only mode before switching to gas until the battery pack is recharged. The c will start under $19,000 and serve as the entry-level Prius. |
