A couple of Ravens players contacted over the weekend said they were pleased that quarterback Joe Flacco spoke out about the firing of quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn.
The players applauded the fact that Flacco stood up publicly to express his disapproval, which is a little out of character for the quarterback.
In his three seasons with the Ravens, Flacco has built a reputation for being mild-mannered player who goes out of his way to avoid controversy. The only other time Flacco has voiced his displeasure was last summer, when he questioned how the signing of Marc Bulger would impact the quarterback group. Then, on Saturday, Flacco expressed disappointment in the Ravens' firing of Zorn.
"I'm not happy about it, and they know I'm not happy about it," Flacco said. "I'm not going to be happy about it for a long time."
Ravens officials aren't expected to respond to Flacco's comments, a spokesman said.
