Instant Analysis: Ravens 17, Panthers 12

How our reporters and editors saw the first exhibition game Thursday night, a 17-12 Ravens win at M&T Bank Stadium.

Mike Preston: The downfield passing game is alive and kicking.

Jamison Hensley: Where was Anquan Boldin? Donte' Stallworth? Ray Rice? Still, the Ravens were efficient. Putting together a 96-yard drive was impressive -- even for the preseason.

Edward Lee: Hope this pass-run ratio isn't a harbinger of the offensive game plan for the regular season.

Ken Murray: The Ravens' offense hinted at an ability to make more plays down field. The team's injury-racked secondary had the good fortune to play against Carolina's quarterback-challenged offense. As Anquan Boldin said, this was just a game to get through.

Ron Fritz: The first-team offense put up 10 points in three series then took the rest of the game off. Wish the rest of us could have done the same.
