Rain postpones all games in O's system

For the second time already this season, there won't be any game recaps because inclement weather forced the postponement of all the games involving teams in the Orioles' minor league system.

The Triple-A Norfolk Tides, Double-A Bowie Baysox and Single-A Frederick Keys were all forced to cancel their scheduled games tonight due to rain. The Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds were already idle.

All three teams hope to play doubleheaders on Tuesday in order to make up for the rainouts. According to minor league rules, each game is scheduled for seven innings.

If the forecast for the rest of the week is correct, there could be more postponements coming.

Norfolk will host the Columbus Clippers for two games beginning at 6:15 p.m. Rich Hill is expected to start the first game for the Tides, while David Hernandez will take the mound for the nightcap. Jeremy Sowers and Jack Cassel are the listed pitchers for Columbus.

The Baysox plan to play twice against the Trenton Thunder at Prince George's Stadium. The first game is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. I'm assuming Jake Arrieta and Troy Patton will pitch the two games for Bowie, so it might be a good idea to make the trip if you're an Orioles fan.

Frederick is scheduled to host the Winston-Salem Dash for two games at Harry Grove Stadium. The first game will begin at 5 p.m. Also, the Keys announced that Sunday's rainout against the Potomac Nationals will now be played as part of a doubleheader on Friday, June 12 at 5 p.m.
